„You are late,“ said Shego, when Julian and Washington entered her room.
„We would have been here earlier, but the door to our room was jammed,“ answered Julian. „All these hot vapors in the washhouse made it rusty over the years. And they were also bad for my back, but the old and hard pallet equalized it.“
„So what are you complaining about?“ hissed Shego. „Can we go on now?“
Washington arranged the camera. „Just one moment!“
„We stopped yesterday with the gangster, who had been thrown out of a car, correct? So I’ll tell you now the story of the 100th anniversary celebration of Go City.“
„I'm ready,“ said Washington. „You can start now.“
Shego sighed, before she began to talk.
„It was exactly one day before the celebration. I sat with Hego in the kitchen and ate my breakfast, when Mego came sleepily into the room.“
„G'morning,“ mumbled Mego, on his way to the fridge.
„Good morning,“ answered his siblings.
Mego got a milk carton out of the fridge and trudged to the cupboard. On his way to there, he took a brief look at the calendar. He noticed something on it, stopped, rubbed his eyes, and looked again on it.
„Hey,“ he said finally, „tomorrow is the city anniversary!“
Shego had her mouth full and decided not to say anything about it.
„I know,“ said Hego, „and I wanted to talk with you about this.“
„Let me guess. We gotta do an extra shift tomorrow,“ said Shego, after she swallowed her breakfast.
„Almost right. I told you that I promised the city administration to take over some special assignments, so that we can use the Go Tower, didn’t I?“
„Yes, I remember something like that.“
„Aside from this you also spent all your money for the equipment, but I'm not resentful,“ said Shego and ate some more of her cereal, while she looked angrily at Hego.
„Good that you remember that. Tomorrow at the parade, we will be on the first truck and wave at the towners.“
Mego poured some milk over his corn flakes. „Cool.“
„Not cool,“ returned Shego. „We should make fools of ourself in front of the whole city?“
„What are you thinking? We are strenghtening the moral of the citizens with our presence and showing that we are in touch with them.“
„And wave at them, while we are surrounded by brass bands and ballons, that looks like cartoon-characters.“
„Yes.“
„No.“
„Take it easy, sis,“ said Mego. „Day after day and night after night we rescue this city from crime. I think it's not bad to be the centre of attention for a few hours and let them cheer at you.“
„Exactly! Why can't you be like your brother?“
„An egoist who gasps for fame?“
„No. I mean you should be more interested in the affairs of Team Go. Even if I don't agree everytime with Mego's motivations, he's always there for the team. How about some more...Go-operation?“
„Did you just came up with that?“
„Yes, it came spontaniously to my mind,“ said Hego proudly.
Shego sighed.
„Okay, I'll be there tomorrow, and for my part, I will wave but I won't smile.“
Hego gave his sister a hug.
„Thank you. That was all I wanted to hear. But now it's time for school.“
„Yesyesyesyesyes,“ mumbled Shego and Mego on their way out of the kitchen.
„Oh, by the way,“ called Hego after them, „can one of you on your way home go to Atwood? I think it's time to let the twins have a more active part in our team, so I let made uniforms for them and someone has to pick them up.“
„I can't, because... I... have after school... humenanmnblmnasam,“ mumbled Mego and was suddenly in a hurry.
„Shego? Would you be so nice then?“
„Do I have a choice? And do you still think that I should be more like Mego?“
„I have already mentioned Atwood. He was this tailor, who was spezialized on costumes of Superheroes and -villains. He was very popular for these people, because of his neutrality and his ability to keep quiet. His store was right in the city center. It wasn't even camouflaged, but you seem to overlook it anyway, if nobody tells you that it is there. Yes, the world of Superheroes and Supervillains. Full of absurdities.“
In the afternoon, Shego walked into Atwood's store. It was a small, and old fashioned looking, making the shop seem almost comfortable.
The ringing of the bell at the front door told the owner, that someone entered his store.
„Good afternoon, young lady,“ said Atwood with a smile.
„Hello. I’m here to pick up something,“ answered Shego and gave him a ticket.
„I see, Team Go. I’ll get the tricots, take a look around if you want to.“
„Atwood was absolutley tight-lipped about his customers. It happened sometimes that some villains tried to get the identity and the residence of their enemies by trying to hurt him. But he never said anything. He took that discretion so seriously, that he didn't even inform the heroes about what the villains did! But they got banned from the store after that. Just because he was neutral, it didn't mean that he was unforgiving.“
While Atwood disappeared in another room, Shego looked a little bit closer at the rest of the clothes. She took a black cape from a clothes-stand, hung it laxly around her shoulders and looked at herself in the mirror.
„Elegant,“ she thought, „but probably a little bit too much.“
She put it back where she got it from and looked at the stuff in the shelfs. A pair of gloves attracted her attention there. She liked the colour immediately, because it was the same green as in her outfit. She wanted to try one of them on, but when she grabbed them, she suddenly felt a pain in her hand and dropped them.
„Is everything okay?“, asked Atwood, who came back in at that moment.
Shego held her injured fingers. „I cut myself.“
„Let me see.“ The tailor came over to her and looked at the cuts. „It's not so bad. It already stopped bleeding, but the smallest cuts hurt the most, don't they?“ He looked at the glove on the floor. „Hm. I wanted to put a warning on them. Looks like I forgot.“
„What about these gloves?“
„The fingertips are made out of a special metal. Unbelievable resistant and if you care for them regularly, a special file belongs to them, they will be as sharp as they are now for years. Besides this fabric is very comfortable, breathable and Superheropower-resistant. It's the same fabric that I used for your uniforms.“
„How much do you want for them?“ asked Shego, with a glimmer in her eyes.
„Of course Hego wasn't too happy that I came back with, like he called them, dangerous weapons, but when I convinced him that the gloves could also be very useful tools, he allowed me to keep them. Of course, on condition of practising the use of them. So I didn't wear them at the parade the next day. But it turned out that I could have used them.“
The parade for the city anniversary was in full swing. It seemed that the whole city gathered at the main street to see this spectacle.
The first of the many floats was Team Go's. The whole family was on it and waved at the crowd.
Hego radiated the most dignity. Mego enjoyed the attention and the jubilance, which were in his opinion mostly for him. The twins just found it exciting to be suddenly praised so much by everyone and entertained the citizens here and there with a demonstration of their powers. Even Shego condescended to wave at the audience from time to time. She tried to carry it off well, that she didn't want to do this, but she didn't succeeded with it.
„Shego, can't you show more enthusiasm? The people down there are also cheering for you, so you could give them at least an honest smile,“ said Hego.
Shego then clothed her face with the sweetest, false smile that she could do.

Mego put his arm smiling around his sister.
„Maybe this will make you smile,“ he said. „The three boys down there, in the first row, seem to have a crush on you and if you do it right, they will probably fight each other for you.“
She looked down at the sidewalk and took a short look at the three teenagers, who blew kisses at her, while they were holding each one beer. Shego rolled her eyes at this sight, although she admittedly smiled a little, too.
„Ouch, what was this for?“ asked Mego, when his elder brother gave him a soft slap on the back of his head.
„There is nothing funny about friendships, that break because of jealousy. Apart from that --,“ Hego jumped down from the waggon and took off the boys' beer. „You are not of full age, aren't you? But for today I leave it at a verbal warning. And... stay away from my sister.“
When Hego jumped back on the float, he looked into the eyes of an unexpected guest. A sparrow sat on Mego's head.
„Could anyone please take it off of me?“ asked Mego.
„Why don't you do it by yourself?“
„I tried to scare it away, but he stands pat on my head and makes a fool out of me.“
Hego took the bird carefully from his brother's head and threw it softly away.
„You see, it was easy.“
Mego pointed at the sky.
„Yeah, right! It's coming back!“
Shego and Hego looked up and saw a strange looking cloud, right behind the approximating sparrow.
„Looks like it's going to rain,“ said Hego.
„I don't know,“ said Shego, „doesn't really looks like a cloud.“
„You are right, it doesn't move cloud-ish.“
„But it's coming right for us!“
Mego realized first what it was and shouted. „Guys, the bird brought its friends! Everybody down on the floor!“
This warning came so unexpectedly that of course not everybody around them were able to follow it. Even more unexpected was the attack of the huge swarm of birds that came over Go City like the shockwave of a feathered explosion.
„One sparrow is just annoying. Thousands of them, which fly over you in a low flight level, without leaving you the ability to do anything, are a nightmare.“
Hego held up the float as protection for himself, his family and as much people as possible. Around them he could hear the scared crowd scream. The wild, flying swarm of birds barred him from seeing, what was happening. All of a sudden it was quiet. Hego decided to take a look, and was surprised to see the birds were gone. The citizens began to realize this too and dared to get up slowly or come out of their hidingplaces, if they had been able to find one.
„Take care of the injured,“ commanded Hego to his siblings and jumped over the float.
„Nobody was harmed much. Just bruises and scratches. The birds didn't attack anyone, they were just there to spread panic.“
Mego looked around.
„Where have these darned birds gone!?“ he shouted.
The birds had vanished from the face of the earth. Hego scratched thoughtful his chin.
„A good question. I hope they never come back.“
„Uhm, excuse me? Team Go?“ said a police man. „Looks like we need you! There just came a message in. The birds tore apart the Go City Bank and left with the money!“
„When we arrived, it was already too late. The bank, even the strongroom, has been levelled to the ground and the birds were over the hills and far away with most of the money.“
Team Go looked depressed at the pile of rubbish that was once the Go City Bank.
„I hate coming too late,“ Mego said.
Shego looked at the banknotes, that were coming out under the wreckage.
„At least they didn't take all the money.“
„Yes, but it was surely enough.“
Shego looked around her. Hego talked with a few policemen about the progression of events. The twins were with him.
„Y'know,“ she said, „if we were to take a few of these bills, it would be the perfect crime. Nobody would miss them, because they got officially stolen from that weird swarm of birds.“
Mego looked with a touch of fright at his sister.
„We can't do that, even if you are right.“
„But... would you snitch on me if I took some hundreds with me?“
„You are my sister. Give me one hundred and I won't tell anyone.“
„Yes, that's right. I pocketed on that day $1,250 and nobody had noticed it. Mego got his promised $100 and he shut up. In the evening we had a team-meeting at the Go Tower.“
The whole team sat around the table. Hego began to speak.
„Today was one big miss. We got lucky that nobody got injured badly, but we have to be more attentive.“
„You mean, that crusing around on a colorful decorated float, while a huge swarm of birds is going to fly through the city wasn't a good idea?“ asked Shego with a spiteful smirk.
Hego sighed.
„Please, take this a little bit more seriously. They already say in the media that we are absolutely incompetent and they are screaming for better heroes.“
„Oh, that's normal,“ said Mego easy-going. „A well known fact, everybody loves their heroes until they make one single mistake. With our next, bigger success, they’ll start to love us again. This happens every superhero at least once.“
Hego jumped up and hit with his fist on the table.
„You are right! At best we take care that the initiator of todays infamous action will be behind bars!“ He scratched his chin and sat down again slowly. „I just wish that we had a clue to the villain's identity.“
„If you consider that we witnessed today a flock of birds gone wild, which seemed to be trained to steal a lot of money, I would suggest this strange birdman, who has built some kind of nest for himself on Go Mountain and called attention to himself with lots of smaller crimes, which all had to do with trained birds,“ sighed Shego.
„I don't like the tone of your voice, young lady. But you are right. Let's go!“
„Now?“ asked Mego, who was just busy with twisting his index finger back and forth in his ear, in the hope that something interesting would come out of it.
„Yes, now! The sooner we catch the bad guy, the less mischief he will do.“
„Okay, I call the super-babysitter.“
„This is not necessary. The twins will come with us.“
„Yaaaaaaaaay!“ they cheered.
„What?“ asked the other siblings.
„Yes, they will come with us. I want to involve them more into our activities. They’ve make huge advances in training and I think they are ready.“
„They are five years old.“
„I don't wanna hear contradictions. They are coming with us.“
„I oppose this. What's your opinion, Mego?“
„Well, they are really good. And we can use any kind of help.“
Hego clapped cheerfully with his hands. „That's all I wanted to hear. Let's go to the jet!“
While Hego ran with the twins to the jet, Mego stopped his sister without attracting attention.
When the others were out of hearing and sight, he whispered to Shego: „Here is the money from a few hours ago. I don't think that this is right and I hope that you will bring your money back, too.“
„Yes,“ she sighed. „Maybe... hey, that's just $75!“
„I needed new shoes.“
